“Armor” is a series of wearable sculptural pieces with latex caulking on wire mesh. These pieces, covered in green tropical foliage and molded into the shapes of masks and collars were inspired by and reminiscent of heraldry, armor, and camouflage. They became central to a body of work called “Guise,” digital collages featuring myself wearing the pieces and camouflaging into digitally collaged lush tropical environments.

I had the opportunity to show the “Armor” series of wearable sculptural works in a two-person show, “Handle with Care,” organized by Wedge Curatorial in Toronto, Ontario in early 2020. I collaborated with two local Toronto dancers, Camille Rojas and Nyda Kwasowsky, to activate the pieces. They wore the work and interpreted them through dance within my installation at the Gladstone Hotel gallery at two events during the exhibition.
